The Media Library supports a robust search function that allows users to quickly find relevant media by cataloging and indexing multiple points of information to help you find exactly what you are looking for.

Searchable Content Criteria
The Media Library indexes the following criteria, which is used when returning search results:
- Media Content Title
- Media Content Description
- Folder Title
- Folder Description
- PowerPoint / Keynote Text
- Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) / Transcripts / Captions
The Automatic Speech Recognition search feature is about 80% accurate.
Searching Everything
- To search for everything that you have access to in the Media Library, navigate into the Media Library from your course and click the folder title, then select “Everything” from the top of the list.
- Now in the "Everything" folder of the Media Library, click into the Search Bar at the top of the page and search for your media.
- The search results will be returned with all instances of the search term in bold.
- The text and audio of the media is indexed as well, and displays with timestamps that can be selected to be taken directly to that point in the media.
Searching within a Folder
- To search for media that you have access to in a specific folder of the Media Library, navigate into the Media Library from your course and click the folder title, then select the specific folder you want to search exclusively in.
- Now in the specific folder of the Media Library, click into the Search Bar at the top of the page and search for your media.
- The search results will be returned with all instances of the search term in bold for the media only in the folder you searched.
- The text and audio of the media is indexed as well, and displays with timestamps that can be selected to be taken directly to that point in the media.
Searching within Media Content
- To search for a specific point in a piece of media that you have access to in the Media Library, navigate into the Media Library from your course and open the specific media in the Panopto Player.
- In the Panopto Player, click into the "Search this Recording" box to input your search terms.
- The search results will be returned with all instances of the search term in bold for the media you are specifically in the player for at the moment.
- The text and audio of the media is indexed and displays with timestamps that can be selected to be taken directly to that point in the media.

- Automatic Speech Recognition, Transcription, or a Caption
- Slide Content Headings
- Optical Character Recognition of the Content
