Enabling the Clarity Platform Link in Your Canvas Course Site

Updated on

The Clarity Platform, Yale University's secure AI chatbot, has been made available as a pre-configured redirect link available for all faculty to enable in their Course Navigation starting in the Fall 2025 course sites. By default, the Clarity Platform link is disabled, but can be enabled for ease of access by following the steps found in this article.

At this time, the Clarity Platform is not integrated directly with Canvas @ Yale for deeper interaction or functionality. Enabling the redirect link in your Course Navigation does not:

  • Pass your Canvas course roster to Clarity
  • Create a custom chatbot agent that you can configure
  • Read or have access to any of your Canvas course content to reference
  • Provide you insights or logs to what your students may be using Clarity for in your class

The Clarity Platform redirect link in the Course Navigation just provides a more convenient place for faculty and students to get to Yale's secure chatbot option.

For a configurable AI chatbot agent for use in your course, consider Ed Discussions: Adding an AI Chatbot with Bots++ for your course.

Clarity is appropriate for use with low, medium and most high-risk data, with the notable exception of Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI). Users with external obligations like data use agreements should also make sure their use of Clarity is appropriate. For further details, see Clarity Platform Security.
