This article will address the following information:
Canvas Updates
Canvas's core functionality is continuously updated throughout the year. Here are some of the more notable changes you should be aware of.
- Speedgrader now supports the preview and annotation of iWork files (.pages. .numbers. Etc.) Previously instructors could only download iWork files uploaded to an assignment.
- In Pages, when editing a page title, all links to that page automatically update in a course. Previously, links to pages broke when page titles were updated.
- Users can create and edit duplicate events for different sections of a course in the Calendar.
- Global Navigation tray interfaces have “All Courses” and “All Groups” links moved to the top of the tray to find easier.
- In Account and Course Notifications, users can now select to receive Push Notifications for Discussion: New Topics and Discussion: New Replies.
New Quizzes Updates
- Quiz Engine selection is putting New Quizzes first rather than Classic Quizzes
- New Quizzes, instructors can allow students to build on their last attempt of a quiz by reattempting incorrectly answered questions. When the build on last attempt feature is enabled, students can only view questions marked with incorrect answers, all other questions are hidden.
- Instructor access to Item Analysis reports is faster and the user interface is updated. Previously it could take up to 48 hours for data to display in the New Quizzes reports.
- QTI Export available for New Quizzes. When a question from an item bank is used and then a QTI export is created, the item bank is included in the export.
- The Share Item Bank with Course checkbox is added in the Item Bank page when creating a new Item Bank, as well as existing Item Banks. Additionally, instructors can view when an Item Bank is already shared with a course.
- When a course is copied that includes a new quiz with an item bank, the item bank is shared with the new course automatically.
- Instructors can enable Anonymous Grading in New Quizzes if they have enabled the “Anonymous Grading” feature for their course.
