Canvas Updates
Canvas's core functionality is continuously updated throughout the year. Here are some of the more notable changes you should be aware of.
- Document link disable preview option allows instructors the ability to disable a file’s preview when linked on a page through the RCE, in favor of forcing a file download when clicking the link.
- Calendar event start / end time menu now displays time duration in 5-minute increments.
- New Quizzes grade sync in Speedgrader when updating scores on questions so that instructors do not need to refresh the page to see their grade change update reflected in the Speedgrader assessment score box.
- RCE Icon Maker can upload and use custom images as icons, rather than using only the stock images provided by Instructure.
- Course File visibility access allows instructors to edit the visibility of the “Files” section and individual files to align with course, institution, and public access, like the custom visibility of the syllabus tool.
FAS Course Template Changes
Through collaboration with the the FAS Deans, ITS, and the Poorvu Center, the FAS Canvas course template has been updated to include the Feedback & Accessibility Barriers tool in the course navigation as "enabled" by default for new courses.
The Feedback & Accessibility Barriers tool was recently updated in Summer 2022 to expand the use case for the inclusion of reporting accessibility barriers found in a course to the instructors of the course. Assistance is available in remediating reported accessibility barriers as needed through the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning. For more information on the Feedback & Accessibility Barriers tool, please see our support article.
