While you may be familiar with uploading your syllabus file to your Canvas course site, you can actually create and format an interactive syllabus to enhance and organize your course for online learning. An interactive syllabus is created on the "Syllabus" section of the course site using the rich content editor and content selector panel to add links, files, images, media, and more.
Creating an Interactive Syllabus
You can create an interactive syllabus in the same place as you upload your syllabus file in your Canvas course. Click on "Syllabus" in your course navigation to take you to the syllabus page. From here, click on the "Edit" button in the top right hand corner. You can start building your interactive syllabus in the provided large text entry area.
This text entry area includes the Rich Content Editor that will allow you to format your text, add external links, embed Media Library Videos, and much more. Additionally, you can use the Content Selector Panel on the right hand side to add links to areas in you Canvas course, upload files, and embed images.
If your syllabus is already formatted how you'd like in an existing file, you can try to copy and paste the content into the Rich Content Editor. Please note that the copy and paste may not be perfect, and you may need to edit the formatting once it has been pasted. For this reason, we recommend you copy and paste in sections and save as you go to help manage the editing.
