Participants can make changes to their pronouns, language, time zone, third-party services, Canvas feature options, and contact information on the User Settings page.
In Canvas, user profile settings and user account settings are modified in different locations. To make changes to your profile picture, biography, and links, go to Profile Settings.

Editing Your Canvas User Settings
- In the left side global navigation menu, click the “Account” button.
- In the drawer that opens, select the “Settings” link.

Setting Your Pronouns, Language, and Time Zone
- On the Settings page, click the “Edit Settings” button on the right-hand side.
- Once you are done making changes to your pronouns, language, and/or time zone, click the blue “Update Settings” button.

Pronouns: Select the pronouns you would like displayed next to your name throughout Canvas.

Language: Change the language for your Canvas user interface.
- Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

Time zone: Choose the time zone that your Canvas dates and deadlines will be displayed in.

Pronouns: Select the pronouns you would like displayed next to your name throughout Canvas.

Editing Your Canvas Contact Information
You can manage your contact methods used for notifications and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in Canvas. Your @yale.edu email address is stored as your default contact.
- Under “Ways to Contact” header on the right-hand side, click the blue “+ Email Address” link.
- Alternatively, click the blue “+ Contact Method” link.
- On the Register Communication pop-up, navigate to the tab corresponding to the contact method you want to add (Email, Text (SMS), or Slack Email).
- In the provided text field, type your correct contact information and click the "Register" button for the method you input.

- Check your inbox for a confirmation message from Canvas.
- Follow the instructions in the message to verify your new contact method.
- To change your default email address, hover your cursor over the space to the right of your preferred email address, then click the star icon that pops up.
Linking Web Services to Your Canvas Account
- Scroll down to the “Web Services” section of the Settings page.
- Profile display checkbox: Click the checkbox to allow your linked services to be visible on your Canvas profile.

Registered Services: View and manage your linked accounts.
- To unlink a web service from your Canvas account, hover over its icon and click on the red X button that pops up.

Other Services: Link a web service to your Canvas account
- Click on the web service you would like to connect.
- Log in to the external account you would like linked to your Canvas account through the pop-up.
- When prompted, agree to authorize Canvas access to parts of your external account.

Managing Third-Party Integrations
- Scroll down to the “Approved Integrations” section of the Settings page to view the third-party applications you have authorized to access your Canvas site.
- To view more information about your third-party apps, click the blue “details” link.
- To delete a token from your list, click the trash can icon next to it.

Editing Your Feature Options Settings
- Scroll down to the “Feature Options” section of the Settings page.

List filter: Filter the list of feature options to find the one(s) you are looking for.
- Use the dropdown menu to filter by Enabled/Disabled or the text field to search for keywords in the feature option’s name.

Feature: View the Canvas user feature that you can enable or disable.
- Click on a feature to expand a description of its function.

State: Enable or disable features
- Click the check or X icon to open a dropdown menu that allows you to enable or disable a feature.

List filter: Filter the list of feature options to find the one(s) you are looking for.
