Why am I unable to access my Course Blog (WordPress for Canvas)?
WordPress for Canvas is a discussion/blogging solution that allows instructors and students to post original content and comments in an asynchronous discussion format. Course Blogs can be used in many ways - check with your instructor on how the Course Blog will be used for their course.
SOLUTION: Access your blog from the Course Blog button in the course navigation menu
Course Blogs are an integration of WordPress into Canvas which links a WordPress site to a single Canvas course site. The integration controls access to the blog by allowing only the users listed in the People tool of the linked Canvas course site to access the associated WordPress Course Blog and their level access is based on the role they have within the Canvas course site.
After the user has done this process once and has successfully accessed the Course Blog with their account, they will be able to access the blog from the Course Blog button or directly by the URL/links to the Course Blog that are posted elsewhere within Canvas as part of an Announcement, Assignment, Syllabus, Page, etc... The requirement to use the Course Blog button in the Canvas course site's navigation menu is only for users accessing the blog for the first time.
How to access your blog the first time:
- Log into Canvas and navigate to the course with the course blog.
- In the left hand course level navigation, click on the Course Blog button .
- This will open up WordPress in Canvas. It may prompt you to log in with your school information. If this is the case, use your Canvas credentials.
- You will be taken to the home page of the course blog. From here, you can start posting!
