Accommodations: Providing Paper & Online Formats of the Same Quiz Activity

In some situations, instructors may want / need students to have a paper copy of a quiz activity. There are two tools that may be used to accomplish this available to the Canvas @ Yale community: New Quizzes and the external application, Gradescope.

Accommodations: Creating Secure Quiz Activities for Private or Lower-Distraction Spaces
Updated onArticleInstructors may receive requests from Student Accessibility Services to provide certain accommodations for students. Often times, educational technology can help meet the needs of these accommodations.
Quiz activities taken in private or lower-distraction spaces may still require secure testing. This can be done by using an integrated external tool in Canvas called Respondus Lockdown Browser. An Instructor needs to turn this on for the individual quiz activity, and students will be guided to take the assessment using a pre-installed, locked-down browser.

Accommodations: Providing Extra Time and/or Attempts for a Quiz
Updated onArticleInstructors may receive requests from Student Accessibility Services to provide certain accommodations for students. Often times, educational technology can help meet the needs of these accommodations.
Extended time or extra attempts can be set on quizzes built within Canvas. This is done after the quiz is published, but before it is administered. The process for giving extra time and/or attempts on a quiz is different for Classic and New Quizzes.

Accommodations: Setting Different Due Dates for Individual Students on the Same Activity
Updated onArticleInstructors may receive requests from Student Accessibility Services to provide certain accommodations for students. Often times, educational technology can help meet the needs of these accommodations.
Canvas allows you to set different due dates / times as well as availability dates for an individual student within the same activity assigned to the rest of the class. This can be done on assignments, quizzes, and graded discussions

Submitting a Comment to the Course Feedback and Accessibility Barriers Tool on a Canvas Course (Student Guide)
Updated onArticleIf your instructor has enabled the "Feedback & Accessibility Barriers" tool in a Canvas course, students will be able to provide completely anonymous narrative feedback on the course, as well as share any accessibility barriers they may be experiencing with the course materials.
Students can submit as many comments to the Feedback & Accessibility Barriers tool as they would like over the course of the class.
