Inserting and Running Polls in PowerPoint on Windows

This guide will show you how to insert Poll Everywhere polls in to PowerPoint for Windows.

If you are running Poll Everywhere in PowerPoint and sharing your content via Zoom, you will need to share your entire desktop and not just the PowerPoint application. Zoom sees the live slide as a separate program and will not display it to your Zoom participants if you share only the PowerPoint application.

Select the Poll Everywhere Tool within PowerPoint

After installing the Poll Everywhere desktop application for PowerPoint on Windows, you will see the Poll Everywhere tool within PowerPoint.

Log in to Poll Everywhere within PowerPoint

To insert your polls and collect responses, you need to be logged in to Poll Everywhere within PowerPoint. Select the "log in" option and sign in using your Yale email and password.

Insert an Activity

Select "Insert" and then "Activity" to bring up a menu of your created polls.

Select your Activity and Insert as a Slide

1. Select the check box next to the poll, or polls, you would like to insert in to your presentation.

2. Select "Insert slides" to have the polls added as new slides in to your presentation.

Select your Activity Flow

Poll Everywhere allows you to insert a poll as one slide or a series of slides depending on how you would like your presentation to flow.

1. Default - inserts the poll as one slide within your presentation

2. Engagement - inserts the poll as a series of slides that will show the instructions, then the results, then lock the slide as you move through the presentation.

The poll will now be inserted within your presentation as a new slide.

Run your Presentation

You can now run your presentation. When you get to a slide that contains a Poll Everywhere poll, the poll will activate and you will see the live slide displayed. The on screen poll options will appear if you move your cursor to the upper right hand corner of your poll.
