Transition Information and Timeline
This article explains the timeline and transition from Classes*v2 to Canvas.
The transition of course sites from Classes*v2 began during the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters.
The School of Management, School of Nursing, School of Forestry, and School of Law transitioned certain programs during this time.
For Yale College and Graduate School, instructors were able to opt in during Fall 2016 and Spring 2017. Starting in Fall 2017 - ALL courses were offered in Canvas only.
Over the summer of 2017, some Classes*v2 course sites were automatically migrated to Canvas. Check out our Bulk Migration help article for more information.
Classes*v2 was renamed the v2*Vault. The v2*Vault was a repository storing all courses taught in Classes*v2 from Fall 2005 - Spring 2017. This repository was available for faculty to access, archive and download content until May 31, 2019. For information about the archives, refer to our help article on how to use the instructor-downloaded course archives.
New to Canvas? Request a Sandbox Site
A sandbox site is an empty course shell where instructors can explore and practice using Canvas tools in a safe environment before implementing them into their active course site. Please complete the Sandbox Course Request form to request your sandbox site.
